The School project

During our first visit to the Govern Psy School, we saw the tremendous dedication of the teachers, but also a severe lack of resources. Without lockers, teaching materials were easily damaged. Thanks to the first donations, we have installed sturdy, lockable lockers. For the 48 students and their teachers, this meant the transition from chaos to structure; their valuable books are now finally safe.

How the Partnership Began

During our visits to Somerset Trust, we met Simon, founder of the Govern Psy Educational Centre.

His vision was clear:
to create educational opportunities for children within the community despite limited resources.

Inspired by his dedication and the commitment of the teachers, HAPPY FEET(s) began supporting the school’s development.

Since then, the partnership has focused on improving learning spaces, supporting infrastructure projects and creating better conditions for both learners and teachers.

Building Opportunities Through Education

Located in Somerset Trust, Mpumalanga, the Govern Psy Educational Centre provides children with access to education in a community where opportunities are often limited.

When HAPPY FEET(s) first became involved, we met a dedicated team of educators led by Simon, who had already created a place where children could learn despite limited resources.

Since then, we have been working together to improve the learning environment and create better opportunities for the children attending the school.

What has been achieved so far:

  • New educational books and learning materials have been provided to support classroom teaching.
  • Access to clean water has been improved, ensuring that children have reliable water available at school.
  • Sanitation facilities have been upgraded to create a safer and healthier environment.
  • Classroom spaces have been improved and additional infrastructure has been developed to support future growth.
  • Ongoing maintenance and renovation work continues to improve the school’s facilities and learning environment.

Today, the school continues to grow and develop.

While much has already been achieved, there is still work to do.

Future priorities include classroom furniture, educational resources, technology, security improvements, fencing, and the continued development of learning spaces that allow every child to reach their full potential.

Together with the school leadership, teachers, families and supporters, we are building more than a school.

We are creating opportunities for the next generation.
