Clean water
Access to clean water is essential for education, health and dignity.
When we opened our daycare centre, installing a water tank was the most practical solution. Thanks to the generosity of one of our sponsors, the tank is still refilled every month, ensuring a reliable water supply for the children.
For Govern Psy Educational Center, however, we knew this would never be enough. With a growing school and plans for future expansion, we needed a permanent solution rather than relying on regular water deliveries.
That is why we decided to drill our own borehole.
The drilling process quickly became more challenging than anyone had anticipated.
We hoped to find water at around 30 metres.
At 50 metres, there was still no water.
At 60 metres, we found only a small amount.
Instead of giving up, we continued drilling.
Finally, at 80 metres, we reached an excellent underground water source.
Although the project became considerably more expensive than originally planned, it provided something priceless: a reliable supply of clean drinking water for generations to come.
Water Changes Everything
A pump has been installed, the storage tank is connected, and clean water is now available throughout the school.
This has allowed us to:
• complete the new learner washrooms,
• provide clean drinking water every day,
• distribute reusable water bottles to our learners,
• and create a healthier learning environment for everyone.
Many of our learners do not have reliable access to clean drinking water at home. Being able to refill their bottles at school is something many of us take for granted—but for them, it makes a real difference every single day.
The Next Chapter
• complete additional washroom facilities, including staff toilets,
• build small shower rooms for learners after sports,
• create a school kitchen where meals can be prepared safely,
• and install a washing machine so that sports kits, uniforms and other school items can be cleaned at school when needed.
Every improvement builds on the one before.
For us, the borehole was never just about water.
It was about creating a school where children can learn, grow and thrive with dignity.
